Marlene Dutta is a seasoned executive renowned for her people-centred approach, business acumen and knack for scaling startups. She started Western Union from a humble bedroom setup, expanding to 10 branches and over 120 agents throughout Fiji, Tuvalu, Kiribati and Vanuatu over 13 years.

Marlene is proficient in operations management and process optimization. As Corporate Services Manager of CPL Group for 4 years, the largest mixed retail company in Papua New Guinea, she set up the CPL Foundation and championed community building and income generating projects. She is currently the Pacific Regional Manager at Good Return, an Australian NGO working to improve financial inclusion across the Asia Pacific region.

During COVID-19, Marlene founded the internationally acclaimed Barter for Better Fiji, an online community that revived Fiji’s barter system to support each other through the pandemic. Barter for Better Fiji sparked a historic global kindness movement and crisis response that was replicated in several countries, earning Marlene the title of Pacific Community Champion for 2020 by Island Business (Magazine).

Marlene's proven record of fostering growth, staying ahead of the curve, and developing human capital, makes her a valuable asset to the board. For Marlene, profit is not profit if the people are not looked after.
